Geographic Search - Step 1  d

This method identifies schedule roll(s) to view based on data you enter about the family's location in 1930.


You may search for a particular geographic "place" or institution if it is recorded in the enumeration district description. Places include names of town, streets, post offices, rural townships, election precinct and ward numbers, and rivers and lakes. Institutions include schools, prisons, and sanitariums.

If you know the ED number, this search gives you the ED description and Schedule microfilm roll number. For the 1930 census, the and the . For example, in Ohio, Allen County is County 2 and Amanda Township is ED 1 in Allen County; therefore the ED number you should enter is 2-1.
